First off, I apologize to everyone pulling their hair our with me over the screw ups on the map. When turns are late *ahem*, I get impatient and start opening orders and updating the map anyway where there will be no conflicts or obvious moves. If it's not clear, I leave them, but then i forget where i left off. I mistakenly believe this saves me time later. I won't be doing that again...
Secondly, I just used Adobe Acrobat's OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool to scan the PDF of the rulebook. The new copy of the book is a text-searchable PDF file instead of scanned images. Much easier to use, AND less than half the size. Download from the rules section here if you prefer it.
Thirdly, we had some confusion on coastal movement this turn in two cases.
1) British Fleet Aden to Saudi Arabia, North Coast
As per page 5 (of our newly scanned and searchable rulebook...)
"When a Fleet is in a coastal province, its warships are considered to be at any point along the coast of that province. A Fleet in a coastal province can be ordered to move to an adjacent coastal province only if it is adjacent along the coastline (as if the Fleet was moving down the coast)."
The North Coast of Saudi Arabia is not adjacent to Aden.
2) Russian Fleet Port Arthur to Seoul
Also as per page 5 (of our newly scanned and searchable rulebook...)
"If a Fleet is ordered to one of these provinces, and it is possible
for the Fleet to move to either coast, the order must specify which
coast, or the Fleet does not move."
The operative word being "AND it is possible"... In the case of Port Arthur to Seoul, it was not possible for the Fleet to move to the East Coast, therefore there is no ambiguity.
