Navy English Channel Retreats to Mid Atlantic. Shhh! Retreat orders should also be done privately in case of conflicts. For example, if there are two units, back to back, that must retreat, and they could both possibly retreat to the same province, if their retreat orders are the same, both units are disbanded. More importantly, if say, England knows you're retreating to the Mid-Atlantic, he might build a fleet in Liverpool. But if he's not sure if you're retreating to there or Brest or Picardy, he might be inclined to build in differently. (This is a theoretical situation, since England is not building this turn. Don't panic! ) It's not a big deal in this case, because it'll become obvious once the map is updated, but it's still a good habit to get into.

Uhh Steve, if we were playing face to face everyone would know the retreat orders before the builds and disbands were done as they are part of the move while the builds and disbands are a totally seperate thing.

Right. (I knew that... really. it's just a pain in the ass to update the map imn the fall three separate times.) You're right (whoever) about the build orders being a separate part of the turn though. My bad. But the rest of it stands. Try and keep in the habit of keeping your retreats private, in case it ever becomes an issue. (Unlikely as it may be, it almost happened once in the last game.)
