Steve,
We need to call this one a draw and get on with the next one.
For every turn going forward, I’m going to make the following moves in the South:
Marseilles holds, with support from Gascony Spain holds, with support from Portugal Mid-Atlantic holds, with support from English Channel
As with your current holdings, you can’t attack any of my territories with more than two units, this will become a perpetual stalemate.
In the North, I am going to support Munich to hold (as well as Prussia) until my Army in Picardy reaches Kiel (3 turns), at which point I will take Munich (sacrificing Prussia). This will bring me to 17, at which point I will put all my Northern troops in holding patterns, similar to what I am doing in the South.
Good game, but with me playing defensively, you no longer have the ability to win, regardless of your tactics.
Let’s wrap this one up.
Cheers, J.

Actually I already talked to Brian and was hoping you would do something to surprise me. If you're determined to not press an attack anywhere, that is unfortunate. I hate a ties more than I hate losing, but I suppose not everyone feels that way. Very well. Draw.

My only surprise move available (that would have been effective) was the convoy to Tuscany. Once that got blocked, I had no further options. Any aggressiveness on my part would have given you an advantage, based on your positioning. I'm not a particular fan of ties either, though I'm not one to voluntarily throw a game by making moves that would not pose any possible benefit to me (aggression for the sake of aggression). It was tie or lose - not great options.
Looking forward to a continuation on the next game.
J.

Not true at all. In these situations making unorthodox moves can yield some incredible results, but they are risky. All about Sun Tzu. "Be where your enemy does not expect you. Do not be where he does." Estimate my objectives, and instead of moving to counter them, go around them. Understanding how the pieces move and what becomes vulnerable when they do is critical when things bog down like this. I can't (and won't) get into specifics over any scenarios without going back through the previous maps/orders, but I absolutely saw possibilities for you to take advantage of and I wrestled with what you might have in mind. Knowing I wasn't going to sit and hold was your biggest advantage here. I empathize with not wanting to lose, but the way the game is designed, a situation is rarely completely hopeless. It's nothing personal, of course, it's just irritating to have an 8 month long game - the best one I've ever had - end in a tie. Hopefully the next game will be a bit more exciting. Good luck!

ok, looks like this one officially ends in a draw. I will begin work on determining the players for the next game.
