The frantic activity in the War room had hit a fever pitch. The Chief of staff and the Imperial Chancellor in charge of the Military grew increasingly short as they barked orders and awaited reports.
"I am not going to be the one to tell his imperial majesty that we are 'screwed' as you keep saying." The Chancellor's bushy eyebrows joined in a frown that would've crippled a lesser man.
Ignoring his peer's advancing eyebrows the Chief of Staff continued on with his report. "Well we are. By my calculations and these reports our only real options are Serbia and then turtling. Not very appetizing for an empire re-builder. Anything else and its bon voyage for South America. At least I hear Argentina is nice this time of year. The Emperor and the Arch-duke are going to be furious at that. Then again I can't even begin to imagine how they'll react to the reports that Italy, Germany, Russia and Turkey are giving us the eye."
"Even the Italians?" interrupted a stunned Chancellor.
"Yes, even the Italians. It's ridiculous It's like we're a fire sale and everyone wants a piece of the action. Hell, one report suggests that the French and the English are mad that they can't get at us."
"Bloody French. So we are screwed. <<SIGH>>" The Chancellor started gathering up the papers and reports. " I guess I will have to get this over with. Maybe I will check out that Argentinian property with you after all." He suddenly smiled and turning back to the Chief of Staff he offered a brief ray of hope. " At least they can't have us attack anyone other than the Serbs, right?"
